Moyse
The eventful story of the French autonomous locomotive builder Moyse (1921-1983) took off in 1914 and continues to the present day. It focuses extensively on the achievements of its competitors while Moyse launched its three classic locomotive types. The publication includes the antecedents of more than 2,000 Moyse locomotives and their numerous users, including those in the Benelux.
This work of reference, with tips for both researchers and modellers, recounts clever marketing and sound management, too. It also provides answers to technical questions such as: ‘Under what conditions is it best to shunt using diesel-electric power, when diesel-hydraulic, and when makes diesel-mechanical more sense?’. ‘Didn’t some Moyse locomotives also run on woodgas?’ or ‘Can one perform shunting effectively on rubber tires?’ As well as other interesting topics such as ‘Is a “botox Moyse” really ludicrous?’ or ‘Howcome American beeps ran right in Moyse's wheels?’
